CalDesal 8th Annual Conference

Published: 06/02/20

IDE Technologies will be hosting a tour of the Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant in Santa Barbara during the week of the conference

The CalDesal Annual Conference is an event that brings together water industry leaders working to promote brackish water desalination, by advocating for funding, policies and the expanded use of important technology.

With water in short supply in many California regions, this year’s event is designed to stimulate a productive discussion to further develop a sustainable desalination and salt management strategy for the region. During the week of the conference, IDE Technologies will be hosting a tour of the Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant in Santa Barbara, which produces nearly 3.0 MGD (million gallons per day) to meet 30% of the City’s demand.

After experiencing exceptional drought conditions, City of Santa Barbara decided to reactivate the plant in July 2015, which has been in long-term standby mode since 1991. As the contract operator of the Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant, IDE Technologies’ Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) technology is being used to help the city efficiently address growing water demands, resulting from the challenging local weather conditions.
