\"Koyambedu<\/p>\n

The Koyambedu Tertiary Treatment RO plant is India\u2019s largest, most technologically advanced water reuse project and the first reuse facility in India to use ozonation for disinfection, a crucial step in the country\u2019s plans for municipal water recycling. The project will boost water resilience and sustainability, making the city of Chennai the first in India to reuse more than 20% of its treated water \u2013 freeing up 16 million m3<\/sup>\u00a0of freshwater each year for the more than 10 million people living in Chennai.<\/p>\n

The plant uses a multi-stage treatment scheme \u2013 including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, rapid gravity said filters, and ozonation \u2013 and functions with an ultra-low specific power requirement of 1.88kWh\/m3<\/sup>\u00a0to cut operating costs over the next 15 years.<\/p>\n

Under India\u2019s AMRUT program, IDE joined VA Tech Wabag in the $83 million, 15-year design-build-operate contract with the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board to complete the 45,000m3<\/sup>\/d reverse osmosis plant and transmission pipeline to treat wastewater for reuse at an industrial
